Workshop Details

This session will help teachers identify challenges in science, social studies, or ELA texts and how to develop scaffolds so that readers can overcome and access texts across the disciplines. In this session, teachers will learn how to identify readers’ strengths and leverage those strengths to support their text reading, thus using a strengths-based approach to supporting comprehension and learning from texts across the disciplines. Scaffolds will include discussion and writing-based supports to deepen text understanding, as well as supports to address challenges in vocabulary, text structure, linguistic complexity, and fluency.

Recertification Certificates (5 points) will be given at the end of the PD workshop series after completion of an electronic exit survey.
