Workshop Details

When classroom communities are challenged by disruptive, defiant, and/or passive-resistant student behaviors, joy in learning is diminished and coming to work with a positive outlook gets harder and harder. This interactive workshop will focus on practical ways to support and respond to student behavior. Participants will deepen knowledge and skills to manage the ever-changing classroom environment in ways that promote behavioral competency over compliance. Megan Williams, behavioral specialist, will focus with participants on how to prevent behavior issues from occurring in the first place as well as how to intervene when behavioral issues begin to escalate.

This workshop is designed to provide practical strategies that will help you to:

  1. Create a safe learning environment for all learners that maximizes a caring learning community 2. Coordinate and participate in Problem Solving Conferences/ Negotiations
  2. Be consistent in your expectations, communication, and follow through with students as it relates to co-crafted mutual values and goals
  3. Learn to Push into challenging student behaviors that are approaching limits to create mutually desired outcomes
  4. Find the POSITIVE!

Participants will leave with a goal to use strategies and come to follow up virtual sessions to continue knowledge and skill building with the group. Workshop activities will be differentiated appropriate to upper elementary, middle, and high school students.
